Music: More Than Just Sound. What Music Does to Our Heart.

Have you ever considered why music makes us feel different emotions? When we hear our favorite song or when there is a good beat, we just can't help but enjoy it. Music expresses many types of feeling throughout all of us in different ways. But did you know music is actually good for your heart? Harvard Health Publishing's recent article says that it does help improve your heart in many forms.

"Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens." ― Maria Augusta von Trapp

When certain parts of the brain are stimulated, then it releases dopamine, a chemical that helps you feel relaxed. Music can cause your brain to release it. This relaxation not only affects your brain but also your heart. This will cause arteries in your body to relax and promote better blood flow throughout the body. A happy brain also means a happy heart!

"Music is an outburst of the soul." ― Frederick Delius

Music gives us the energy to do things. Whether it is going for a walk, or riding your bike that you recently got from Loco Cycles, music helps us move. It keeps us from sitting down and watching TV all day. It gets us active and encourages us that we can walk or ride that extra mile.

Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart.." ― Pablo Casals

Because music can involve several different emotions, it can be a good way to help with anxiety. Dealing with anxiety can cause your blood pressure to rise, and depending on your age can increase the risk of a heart attack. By getting lost in a song you like, your mind is taken away from the things that are causing you stress and anxiety. That can lead to less damage to your heart in the long run.

As mentioned above, in combination with music, a good way to keep your heart healthy is exercising which includes biking, although we do not recommend using earphones on both ears while cycling on the road, as we want all cyclists to be aware and be able to hear the traffic surrounding them. Loco Cycles is your choice for picking out a bike that suits you. If you need any help picking out a bike that fits you, please contact us! We will be happy to help.
