One Cool Bike Gadget to Protect Your Bike and Yourself : The Skylock
July 20 2015 – Rudy Marquez
Its concept is a keyless bike lock that charges itself and has a wireless range that works with your smartphones. When activated and within wifi range, it can send alerts to your smartphone when the built-in accelerometer detects something shaking or rattling your bike by potential bike thefts or anyone trying to mess with your bike. You can adjust the sensitivity levels of the accelerometer. It can also send alerts to your family members & friends if it detects your bicycle might have crashed or been in an accident, and if you don’t respond to their prompts within seconds, it could even contact emergency responders on its own and provide them with your exact location. It is as smart as your smartphone and looks as sleek as an Apple or Porsche designed product. Created by former Jawbone and Boeing engineers, this nifty new invention comes with a built-in solar panel to recharge its battery automatically! 12 hours of sunlight equals battery that lasts 6 months!
Another cool feature it has is that you can setup your own bike sharing network which lets you use their app to allow bike access to your family, friends, or even strangers. It’s like running Airbnb with your bike. You can only pre-order it now for $159. Check out their website for detailed information. They are supposed to start shipping orders in the last quarter of 2015.
